Idea Round-up: Valentine’s Edition

February 3, 2012

It’s time to do another Round-up of some great ideas found on Pinterest- this time with a “Love” theme!

Remember – if you’d like to follow my Pinterest page just click on the red button in the upper right corner of the blog. I’d love to have some new Pinterest friends!

Here are my Valentine themed favorites:

These pillows easily caught my eye – they are just so colorful and striking. They are contemporary needlepoint by Emily Peacock (article is here.)

Heart Mobile

I LOVE being surrounded by mobiles,  keep several on display in my home and studio! This one has such a sweet look and would be easy to make. I have a tutorial from a few years ago on how to make fabric  hearts. You could easily adjust the size up or down and make a mobile similar to this one.

How’s this for sewing room decor? It’s oh so cute and would be a unique DIY project for yourself, or your favorite sewing buddy!  This particular piece of art was mounted on a canvas – you can see more details on it on this blog.

valentines day gift ideas

What a sweet way to dress up a gift – Vintage Keys with ribbon threaded through the top!  This clever idea  came from an article on BHG.com with lots of ideas for DIY Valentine gifts –  you can check it out here.

you are so loved artwork

Such a great reminder for a loved one on Valentine’s Day – It would become treasured forever!

I can’t get enough of the colors and inspiring phrases from artist Katie Daisy. She has an Etsy shop if you want to check out more of her beautiful work.

And of course, I have been getting in the (early) Valentine’s Day spirit here at the Studio as well.

Here is a look at some of the project’s we’ve done in the past:

Every year I put up vintage cards on the memo board.

Last year I re-styled this vintage bag and accessorized it with our Spinning Heart Charms, available in Silver or Antique Brass finish.

You can also use the charms with our Ring Blanks to make a cute Valentine’s Day themed ring. Use  heavy duty glue to attach it to the ring and you’re done!

And finally, here is a photo of  one of our handmade XOXO Heart Mini-Clutches.

Thanks for stopping by!

I just received blumchen.com’s springtime email shown above,  and wanted to share it with you! Visiting their site is such a delight if you are into nostaglic ephemera. They offer one of a kind vintage holiday paper pieces great for home decor, scrapbooking, etc… They do have a section of real honest to goodness antique items as well as the reproduction paper. I love them sooo much I am adding their link to the “stuff I like”  on the right sidebar. Don’t you wish you could just live in this little world for a while?

Junkin’ Field Trip!

February 21, 2010

You will have to excuse the admission, but I have a big vice… junking! Love to cruise the aisles of the least discriminating mercantiles, flea markets, antique malls, et al when I have a chance… looking for that ONE needle in a haystack find! Having a friend to chat with during these little field trips is a fun bonus, and makes it the perfect relaxing outing (to me anyway!)  Here’s my latest discovery….

eiffel tower cloche

From the aisles (aisle 8 actually) of the River City Trading Post on Main Street in nearby Jenks, OK  I found Dorris Levasheff’s creative little pink booth calling my name! Sparling with a feminine fusion of unique handmade paper articles , romantic home decor pieces, and girlie vintage… all with a dash of the France! Above is a small visual sampling~

german glass glitter

I learned that these little canisters are part of the secret of her paper art’s glitzy appeal~ German Glass Glitter! I bought one of silver and pink, and can’t wait to “play”!

a romantic dash of Paris

There was little I could do to resist Dorris’s cute collection, and just had to take a little part of it home with me!
( I know you understand, right?!)

Please share your own  favorite ” finds” and locations! We’d LOVE to hear!

XOXO,

Some Kristal “Bling”

January 15, 2009

Wow! Two posts in one day… I must have drank too much coffee this afternoon! Ha! No, really, I just need to catch-up with some newsy tidbits from the world of embellishment… Several of you probably know the Kristal I am referring to above… bead designer extraordinaire, Kristal Wick! In a conversation recently I got the scoop on her new product line ready to debut at the winter CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) Show later this month in Anaheim! One of her bracelet creations is shown above, my favorite! Her site is chock full of beading ideas- check outhttp://www.kristalwick.com, and don’t miss her blog at http://kristalwick.blogspot.com/. How she does it all is beyond me! I am excited that she will be presenting a class in Tuscon in early February as a Swarovski Crystal educator for the “Batik Purse”  which uses my Wood Bagette! I am dying to show  you what she created using the Bagette, and hope this link will work!http://www.create-your-style.com/Content.Node/events-and-stores/events/Tucson_Guide.pdf (flip to page 16 to see her blinged out version of the Bagette… love it )!

Ribbon Diva

I am behind already! So many fun new items, and acquaintances have been found or renewed recently without mention, so now is the time to bring the blog more up to date, and detail a few.  Several weeks ago Laura Foster Nicholson, from my BlogRoll Links, to be exact, visited the Blog and left several kind comments! Thanks, Laura! This means alot to me, because I am a hopeless ribbon junkie, and have a huge stash of LFN designs! I have added an image of one of my many ribbon storage canisters.. (the hallowed one, actually…. reserved for my favorites!) with several of her latest “to die for” ribbon designs. I LOVE her bright new “Dahlia” (shown above, and right up my alley!!) and the black and white design, “Arabesque” (also above)  especially. Be sure to check out her company’s webiste, http://www.lfntextiles.com, as well as her blog at http://lfntextiles.blogspot.com/ to see some great ribbon ideas and new arrivals.
