Perfect Ten Quilt~

October 16, 2011

My friends Susan Emory and Christine Van Buskirk of Swirly Girls Designs have restyled one of their most successful quilt patterns- “Perfect Ten” using my fabrics! When Susan sent me the graphic above I quickly printed it and ran around the Studio showing everyone! Needless to say, I loved it!

As soon as the Natural Graffiti fabric arrives this March I can’t wait to have my very own “real” thing!

Shown in the design are piece from our “Enchanted Damask”, “Flight Pattern”, and as I mentioned the upcoming, “Natural Graffiti” Fabric Collectons.

Thank You Swirlies! :)

Collage Panel Wall Hanging

September 23, 2011

Using just a few other fabrics in the Natural Graffiti group, I designed a Wall Hanging that uses the 42″ wide Collage Panel as its center. It can be sewn  in either of the other two colorways in the Natural Graffiti fabric collection – Fuchsia or Lavender. The Turquoise colorway is depicted above.

The finished dimensions of the Wall Hanging are 58″ x 44″.  Fabric used to frame the inner Collage Panel include  the black and white classic “Floral Flourish” ,  and “Natural Selection” with the tiny framed specimens- all in the Turquoise colorway.

I am so happy to have the expert help of  my friend Elsie  Ridgely in writing the instructions for it!

Be on the watch for my ”Natural Graffiti”  to arrive in your local Quilt Shop early next Spring….and please ask your favorite Quilt Shops to look for me at Quilt Market! ;)

Thank you,

ellen

Coming Soon! New Fabric Collection~ Natural Graffiti

September 21, 2011

Our big show is just around the corner next month in Houston, Texas at International Quilt Market!  Booth 2025
I am so pleased to finally have the artwork for our new fabric line called, “Natural Graffiti” ready for it’s debut! The collection will be shipping to our customers in February/March 2012.

The image above is my personal  favorite part of the group, #912 “The Graffiti Collage  Panel”. The Panel is 42″ wide by 24″ high. Useful as the center of a Wall Hanging,  a Quilt- or to be cut for Pillows, Home Decor , or Crafting!

All 20 total pieces of this 100% cotton Natural Graffiti collection will coordinate with my previous fabric designs too! In fact, Enchanted Damask,  Flight Pattern, as well as Natural Graffiti were created as one super huge explosion of graphic creativity!
We have kept a nice selection of the earlier releases available for this reason.

The colorway shown above  is Turquoise, and Lavender is shown below…

The third colorway is Fuchsia_The  Graffiti Collage Panel

I look forward to sharing more pieces of this unique quilt fabric with you in the days to come!

Please let us know which colorway is YOUR favorite, and one lucky random commentor will win the Panel of their choice after it is produced!

Thank you!

Booth Sweet Booth!

May 17, 2011

Wanted to share a few images from our Spring Quilt Market Booth recently in Salt Lake City, Utah!  (LOVED Salt Lake City, by the way- and wished I had more time to explore!)

It was a groovy show with tons of inspiration as always!

Our little corner of the Quilt World!

Close up of the Butterfly Bassinette~
baby quilt draped over the front edge is “little birdie” by Greta McGregor Designs.
Quilt in back is “flight of the hippie butterfly” by Cara Wilson.

Mary Jane Coin Purse Kit fits in well with this theme!

Making My Indie Fabric

March 4, 2011

While scrolling thought the images on my computer lately, I came across this picture I had saved earlier. It reminded me of the road I have traveled while bringing my first fabric collection, “Enchanted Damask” & my new second fabric collection ”Flight Pattern” to life!  The bulk of  “Flight Pattern” fabric is now only a few days from port! Yippeee!

In the above photo, my mill is communicating how my 3 colorways will appear, as well as confirming my preferred placement of the design on the 44″ width. I believe this was the second strike-off. (Note that they are NOT telling me that my colors will phase from one to the other, as I of course had to confirm! LOL!)

An endeavor of this scale might be considered foolhardy for myself as the fabrics artist, and my little company as the producer/importer. However, the learning opportunities and rewards I hope will always out weigh this risk! To be totally clear, no other fabric company is “doing this for me”.

So Please SHOP INDIE DESIGNERS when you have the opportunity, wholesale or retail! This vote of confidence makes a big difference to we foolhardy fabric crazed insane souls!

Zen Ellen

July 2, 2010

Ok, my cutie pattottie 4 year old niece, Anna “decorated” me last weekend when she and her entourage (aka parents!) were visiting. I only wish I had asked what she was turning me into??!  Shown in the image background is my personal stash of “Enchanted Damask” & “Spring Dot” fabric…I guess Anna likes the Citrus colorway best..since that is what became my sash! LOL! And yes, the jumbo rick rack was of course the ‘piece de resistance”!

June 28, 2010

I am very lucky to have a super creative sister in law, Deanna, who made this darling Turquoise version of my Bon Vivant Bag! This weekend she allowed me to photograph it…I thought she did a great job! It was made using my company’s new fabric..Enchanted Damask & Spring Dot in the Turquoise colorway, and The Bon Vivant Bag Pattern. Thanks a million Deanna!
